BBC’s The Great Pottery Throw Down television series is filmed at Middleport Pottery. Never previously open to the public, we are delighted to open the studio doors and welcome you to this very special exhibition.
  • Great Pottery Throwdown - The Great Pottery Throwdown is filmed at Middleport Pottery, Home of Burleigh. It takes 25 pairs of hands to create a single piece of Burleigh pottery. Meet the craftspeople behind Burleigh pottery - from Sliphouse to Decorating, you'll see traditional techniques and methods unchanged since the 1800s.
  • Our Founding Patron - HRH The Prince of Wales - Middleport Pottery is delighted that HRH The Prince of Wales is Middleport Pottery's Founding Patron.
  • Heritage is for all ages! - Come play with our new 'Model Pottery'. Adults are welcome to play too!
  • Enjoy our unique Heritage Centre - Step back in time as you explore our ceramic design archive, housing Europe’s largest collection of ceramic moulds. Take an inside look at our Victorian offices and Grade II listed bottle kiln and our newly restored W. Boulton Steam Engine!
  • Events at Middleport Pottery - We run a varied programme of events and activities throughout the year from Jazz Nights, heritage talks, craft fairs, Middleport Mutts, beer festivals, play with clay to name but a few!
  • Middleport Studios - Middleport Pottery is home to 10 independent creative businesses. A mix of contemporary studios and traditional workshops are open to the public and showcase a range of talent from fine art, photography, ceramics, jewellery and bespoke furniture.
  • Magnificent Burleigh - Two floors of Burleigh in their beautiful factory shop. Every piece of Burleigh is handcrafted at Middleport Pottery.
  • Middleport Pottery Tearoom - Friendly staff in our tearoom offer cream teas, cakes, and a range of hot and cold food and drinks (gluten free options available). The tearoom also caters for events, weddings and conferences.

See pottery produced over the years and step into the iconic bottle kiln in our visitor centre. Afterwards, relax in Totally Delicious’ tearoom which overlooks the Trent and Mersey Canal.

One of Britain’s last remaining wooden built narrowboats is set to return to its historic home after being rescued from years of decay and disrepair.

The Great Exhibition’ at Middleport Pottery. Opening Friday 26th May and will now run until 3rd September.
